It makes it clear that the L ord our God is a jealous God. Too many people are more focused on what they had achieved in life but it was God who gave them the gift of independence. Unfortunately some people who become so successful make out to be their own gods. The ones who thank God for the gift that he gave them are loyal and loving people to God.
